The Mar Thoma Suvishesha Sevika Sangham (Women's Wing), was inaugurated during the Maramon Convention in the year 1919 under the leadership of Abraham Mar Thoma Suffragan Metropolitan who gave the sangham continued support and inspiration. Mrs. Kandamma Varghese as organizing Secretary for over 20 years travelling far and wide, organizing branches in parishes, doing evangelistic work among Christians and non‐Christians. Every woman of the Mar Thoma Church, from the age of 18 years is a member of the Sevika Sangham.

Mar Thoma Suvishesha Sevika Sangham of Mumbai Diocese has many activities among the underprivileged children and women in the society. Around 60 downtrodden tribal children stay in Mitra Niketan Girls Hostel in Pipalpada and the Diocesan Sevika Sangham meet all their financial needs. The organization also focus on empowering these children in all prospects. A new venture was initiated to provide financial aid to cancer patients /terminally ill. In accordance with the centenary program of Suvishesha Sevika Sangham, a poultry farm was built at Navjeevan Centre.

The Mumbai Diocese Sevika Sangham consists of 7 Centers: Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Pune, Gujarat, Goa, Muscat (Ruwi & Sohar). Mumbai Diocesan Sevika Sangham constantly work to help the women of Mar Thoma Church to witness Christ in their spiritual journey and to participate in the mission activities of the church.
